CREEK CONNECTIONS
Allegheny College
Teacher Workshop

Teachers learned all about mussels today, from how to ID them, and why population numbers are dropping, to how to take a site survey. Darren Crabtree from The French Creek Project, and Jerry Lang from the Carnegie Museums had the teachers don face masks and snorkels and lay face down in French Creek, in order to better see how mussels interact in their own environment.

Teachers also learned the anatomy of a mussel, so they could get up-close and personal with the critters.
